2005 King of the Mountain...

December

For all the hoo ha - it was a predictable event with Adrian taking the Eddie as the favourite. Josh rolled up to put in an effort to be reckoned with and challenge the older brigade shaving more than 30 seconds off his time and took out the December title. Must have taken lessons from Terry as he actually wore the top on Monday night. Me thinks he was taking teacher training on crowd control on the night too. Terry - you've got work to do with this student.

Sam B rolled up on a new steed and it looked like Josh and Sam might drag each other up (kicking & screaming) but as Sam stepped on the pedal he ripped open his big chainring. Now that's a new one! All the results, pings and reverse pings are on the spreadsheet.

Adrian finally delivers...

Yes Adrian finally took out the KOM. He was a happy man and the effort may see the coveted Eddie come his way. In a head to head battle that has played out for most of the year, Adrian beat home a storming Walter and a fine finish from Woodcutter - who had Adrian in his sights but was too far to close.

FATHERS DAY KOM

Well done to all those that competed on Father's Day. You bunch of softc@&s - FATHER'S DAY and you let a girl win. Now Adrian, who rides like a girl wants to form an alliance with one. Next thing you know there'll be a special girls jersey for the pack and Adrian will get one as well.

As for Karen - well done, you hoodwinked the handicapper and caught the timekeeper off guard. In his rush to get to the line he put his back out and that brings up injury 40652.5 for Rick.

After the August KOM Woodcutter was pinged 20 seconds. Although he rode a 35 second PB there was an amount of forward pinging from last month taking into account the lag from training to performance. I'm guessing this as I'm not the handicapper. Jarrett has now qualified and his handicap is 6:00. Chris Ha makes a move from 3:50 on the Handicapping sheet to 5:00 on the back of his 1:47 PB Appearing for the first time is Hayden R at 4:30, Mark T at 3:10 and our August winner has moved from the limit to 2:50.
The Woodcutter strikes! Yes the man with the axe is back. Training his but off in an attempt to make a break in the eddy. In great form of late and proving once again that handicapper is right on the money, Anthony timed his ride to perfection in taking out the July KOM.
Dropping 10 kg would cost most of us more that our mortgages. Brent simply stopped filling his face and actually did some work on the bike. A lesson for us all. The win gave Brent a 30 sec PB. Fastest across the line was Mick in 15:17.
60 days of Walter. In true Pack form a sensation was caused during the April and May KOMs. Controversy abounded - but - when the talking stopped we were left with two very good rides. Walter claimed the double in taking both KOMs and both Polka Dot Caps - and let his riding do all the talking.
Always the Bridesmaid never the bride! Think again!! Yes Tim the once half a man finally took out the coveted Polka Dot Jersey. And no ping to boot! Ash didn't turn up and no one was prepared to put in the effort that would bring home a time to brag about. So Tom claimed the fastest time with a 16:25 and caused a major controversy in claiming the Polka Dot Cap!
Still showing some form hangover from the Alpine Classic (130km) Kim won the February KOM with a 1:08 PB. A solid performance from KIM in the KOM. Andrew almost took out the fastest time of the day but alas - Ash turned up and put stop to this silly notion. Ash strolled up in 13:57 for a miserly 3 second PB.

Pat Charles won the KOM and caused some controversy by going up the mountain seemingly attached to two non-pack riders. Nevertheless; a win is a win and Pat recorded a PB of 14:51. This allowed JA to give him a sufficient ping to ensure that we won't see him on the podium again this year. Ash attended the January KOM disappointing all those that thought they might get the fastest time. Ash strolled up in 14:00 flat.
